Webinar: Addressing violence and harassment in the world of work – what is it? How do employers respond and what is an employer’s liability for the conduct of workers?

22 October 2020 October 22 | Employment and Benefits

As the World of Work has expanded past an office space, so too has the concept of “Violence and Harassment”.  Harassment can take many forms in the workplace and is not limited to sexual harassment. This may include cyber bullying, mobbing, harassment due to protected disclosures and gender-based violence to name a few.  The draft code of good practice on the Prevention and Elimination of Violence and Harassment in the World of Work (“the Code”) was recently published for comment.

Employers must respond appropriately to the increased risks of liability arising from Violence and Harassment in the Workplace. Join members of the Bowmans Employment and Benefits team for a discussion around the Code and potential risk mitigation strategies your business should be exploring.  This includes human resource policies and practices related to violence and harassment, access to counselling, treatment and assistance to complainants and consequences for perpetrators.

The webinar was facilitated by Luway Mongie, Partner. Panel members included:

  • Rosalind Davey, Partner
  • Melissa Cogger, Senior Associate
  • Mxolisi Ngubane, Senior Associate
