Bowmans advised City of Johannesburg in relation to the implementation of the SAP S4 HANA enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, as an upgrade to the City’s existing SAP solution, to manage and integrate the City’s systems. In addition to a general upgrade of the City’s systems being required to improve the City’s ability to deliver and bill for municipal services, the upgrade is a key part of the City’s strategic Smart City initiative prioritising access to technology and connectivity for residents, as well as ensuring its compliance with the National Treasury’s requirements under the Municipal Standard Charter of Accounts (mSCOA) as part of its ongoing budget and reporting reforms aimed at improving financial reporting. Bowmans drafted and negotiated the agreements for the implementation of the solution and security for performance, as well as various related services agreements in support of the implementation.
