Tussy is an associate in the Nairobi office and a member of the IP & TMT department.
She specializes in Data Protection, Corporate Commercial Transactions, E-Commerce, Financial Technology, and Intellectual Property Protection.
Tussy has advised on several commercial transactions including but not limited to mergers and acquisitions, white label agreements, has undertaken the registration of a number of trademarks as well as advised one of Africa’s fastest growing startups in navigating the local regulatory environment.
She has a track record of assisting business to structure and develop Legal Departments including assisting in the development of policies and procedures as well as supporting on obtaining licensing and registration.
Experience
- Smart Card Based Driving License Project. Supported in the contract management process for the project and further provided client advise for project implementation including but not limited to advising the client on the requisite licenses, approvals and registrations with the various government authorities including the Communications Authority, the Central Bank of Kenya, and the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC).
- Smart Rider Boda Boda Project. Supported in ensuring regulatory compliance of the SmartRider Boda (financial) product in the Kenyan market.
- Reja Reja App (Fintech App) Drafted the terms and conditions, various legal notices, privacy policies and End User Agreements for the Application as well as guidance on the relevant data protection regulation.
- ImaliPay (Fintech App) – Drafted the Ts and Cs, legal notices, privacy policies and end user agreements for use of the mobile application across Kenya and Nigeria.
