Overview
Stephen was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of Namibia, and is also an attorney of the Supreme Court of Namibia and a High Court accredited mediator.
As the head of the Firm’s litigation and dispute resolution department and a leading litigation and dispute resolution attorney in Namibia, he concentrates primarily on complex general commercial litigation in the High Court and Supreme Court, with sub-specialisation areas in employment law, mining law, construction dispute resolution and administrative review litigation related work.
In his years of practice, Stephen has been involved in a variety of precedent-setting judgements in the Labour Court, the High Court and the Supreme Court. Several of the matters that he has been involved in have been published in the Namibian Law Reports.

* Experience prior to joining Bowmans
Successfully prosecuting or defending matters in the High Court and the Supreme Court of Namibia, that involved:
- A precedent setting Supreme Court judgement that developed the constitutional law and set a precedent on citizenship by birth in Namibia.
- A Supreme Court judgement in which a precedent was set on the interpretation and application of 86(18) of the Labour Act 11 of 2007 and, generally, on the correct approach to be followed when interpreting statutes.
- A High Court action for defamation in which the law was developed on the use of social media in the publication of defamatory material.
- A Supreme Court appeal in which the law on constructive dismissal was developed, also being the first ever reportable judgment in which the employee succeeded in a claim for constructive dismissal.
- A precedent setting case in the Supreme Court on the concurrent jurisdiction between the Labour Court and the High Court
- A precedent setting case in the Supreme Court on the interpretation of certain sections of the Export Control Act 30 of 1994.
