Overview

Sadia Soodeen is an associate in the Mauritius office of Bowmans where she advises on investment funds, regulatory, corporate and commercial law matters. Prior to joining Bowmans Mauritius, she was a member of the corporate M&A team at PwC Legal, a Mauritius law firm part of the PwC network of firms, focusing on mergers & acquisitions, insolvency and restructuring, cross-border corporate and commercial transactions as well as financial services.

Sadia holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Hertfordshire and Masters in International Corporate Finance (LLM) from the University of Reading. She completed the Bar Professional Training Course at the Manchester Metropolitan University and was called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. She was also called to the Bar of Mauritius in January 2020 and is a member of the Mauritius Bar Association.

  • Drafting and reviewing of legal documentation and advising from a Mauritius law perspective on corporate transactions.
  • Issuing legal advice on closings and structuring of fund vehicles and non-fund private equity structures as well as advising on corporate matters.
  • Assisted on regulatory matters such as seeking approvals from Mauritius regulators for financial services businesses and domestic entities.
  • Assisted in the setting up of Global Business Companies, Limited Partnerships and fund structures: reviewing of foreign law documents, issuing legal opinion and carrying out legal due diligence on companies incorporated in Mauritius.
  • Assisted in the drafting and reviewing of legal documentation and advising from a Mauritius law perspective on restructuring and insolvency matters, which includes administration, receivership, bankruptcy and winding up.
