Overview
Ruth is a senior associate in the Banking and Finance Department of our Johannesburg office and a member of the General Finance Practice.
She has experience with large-scale refinancing, debt restructuring and project finance deals, and is involved in various cross-border projects across Africa.
Experience
- Advised the Lender consortium in relation to the ZAR 14 billion refinancing of the Tsogo Sun Gaming business, as well as the prior unbundling and separate listing of the hotels business. The complex funding solution proposed by Bowmans and adopted by the parties involved a unique combination of bank funding and debt capital market funding.
- Advising Standard Chartered Bank in relation to the funding of a large construction project in Zambia, with cross-border connections in Mauritius and South Africa.
- Advising the borrower group in relation to a public-private partnership deal in the project finance space involving multiple African jurisdictions.
- Advising the Lender consortium in relation to the multi-jurisdictional African refinancing security package of the largest glass manufacturer in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Acting as transaction counsel in respect of a prominent luxury retail brand in relation to the refinancing and restructuring of its debt package.
