Reuben Pretorius is an associate in the Corporate department of our Johannesburg office, and a member of the Tax practice.

Reuben has experience advising on mergers and acquisitions, customs and excise, corporate tax and exchange control matters. Additionally, Reuben has experience in various tax disputes and has been involved in litigating several large income tax, tax administration and customs and excise disputes.

He holds a BCom LLB degree from Varsity College and a Post-graduate LLB degree from the University of Stellenbosch. Reuben is to pursue his Master of Commerce (Accounting, Taxation)

Experience

  • Represented multinational enterprises in obtaining tariff determinations in terms of the Customs and Excise Act, 91 of 1964.
  • Represented multinational enterprises in customs and excise disputes with SARS.
  • Advised on the exchange control implications of both outbound and inbound investments.
  • Advised on the corporate tax consequences of several corporate restructures.
