Overview
Rachel is an associate in our Nairobi office and a member of our Mergers and Acquisitions Department.
She has experience in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters including corporate advisory work, private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, joint venture arrangements, share and asset sales, corporate restructurings as well as regulatory compliance.
Experience
- KCB Group PLC in relation to the initial acquisition of 85% of the shares of Trust Merchant Bank SA. The transaction won East Africa Deal of the Year at the 2023 DealMakers Africa Awards.
- Ascent DBH Limited and Ascent Capital Holdings Africa II Limited in relation to the acquisition of Diani Beach Hospital Limited.
- Assisting Vinson & Elkins in the due diligence review and transaction documentation with respect to Queen’s Gambit Growth Capital’s (a special purpose acquisition company) business combination with Swvl Inc.
- Montfort Group in relation to its acquisition of Kencor Petroleum Limited from Galana Petroleum Investment Limited.
- Investment Fund for Developing Countries in Trade & Development Bank in relation to its USD 20 million investment in Trade & Development Bank.
- Assisted in the due diligence review in relation to Allianz’s KES 10 billion acquisition of the general insurance business of Jubilee Insurance.
- Acting for a leading retailer in respect of a minority acquisition by a private equity fund.
- Provision of setting up advice and subsequent support for clients in different sectors including the telecommunications sectors, banking sectors as well as charitable entities looking to set up in Kenya.
- Preparing advisory opinions on general corporate matters.

- LLB from Durham University.
- LLM in Corporate and Commercial Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
- Master of Arts (Legal Practice Course with Business) from BPP University.
- Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
