Mayson Petla is a Senior Associate in the Litigation Practice of our Johannesburg office and a member of the Dispute Resolution Department.
Mayson has experience in general corporate and commercial as well as public law litigation. His experience extends to contractual disputes, interdict applications, damages claims, public procurement disputes, insolvency and business rescue applications, evictions, foreclosures and mining litigation. Before shifting his focus to general corporate and commercial litigation, Mayson specialised in employment law with experience in various aspects of litigation concerning employment and labour law matters.
He has experience in conducting litigation disputes by way of Alternative Dispute Resolution which includes arbitration and mediation and has been involved in litigation in the Superior Courts of South Africa including the Supreme Court of Appeal and the Constitutional Court.

- Acted for a major bank in litigation against a former senior employee concerning the constitutionality of the Register of Employees Dishonesty System administered by the Banking Association of South Africa.
- Acted for various mining companies in High Court and Labour Court unlawful protest and strike interdict applications.
- Acted for a mining company in litigation concerning secondary strikes in South Africa which culminated in a seminal judgment by the Constitutional Court.
- Acted for the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa and Public Investment Corporation in business re-structuring and corporate recoveries matters.
- Acted for an information and communications technology company in an unlawful competition and restraint of trade dispute with a competitor, a major pharmaceutical company and entity comprising of former employees.
