Benefits practice. She is the co-author of the book Social Media in the Workplace published by LexisNexis, a leading global provider of legal, regulatory and business information.

She has extensive experience in employment law, the structuring of executive remuneration and benefits, and pension law. She also regularly advises on employee incentive schemes and practices, and analyses the employment consequences thereof.

Her experience extends to advising clients on employee engagement, retention, and remuneration; the structuring and implementation of long-term and short-term incentive schemes; remuneration policies and practices; disciplinary hearings and dismissal disputes; business transfers and outsourcing; retrenchments and restructuring; performance management; sexual harassment and unfair discrimination; and withholding and death benefit exercises in the context of pension law.

Experience

  • Lenja has worked on share incentive schemes for and/or advised a number of local and internationally listed entities on employment and benefits best-practice including African Rainbow Minerals Ltd, Rhodes Food Group Holdings Ltd, AECI Ltd, MPACT Ltd, Omnia Holdings Ltd, Tongaat-Hulett Ltd and Capricorn Group Ltd.
  • Lenja has represented clients in numerous labour and pension law disputes in the Constitutional Court,
    the Supreme Court of Appeal, various divisions of the High Court, the Labour Court and various labour tribunals, the Pension Funds Adjudicator, and the Financial Services Tribunal.

  • BA (politics and law) and LLB degrees from the University of Witwatersrand (both cum laude).
  • Member of the South African Society for Labour Law.
