Kgomotso Mjiyako is an Associate in the Banking and Finance Department of our Johannesburg office and a member of the Financial Services Regulatory practice.

Kgomotso is a financial services lawyer, experienced in providing legal services to retirement funds, financial service providers, payment service providers, banks, insurers, medical schemes, fund managers and capital market participants (such as exchanges, brokers, custodians and nominees). She regularly provides advice on the regulation of securities trading, the interpretation of the Banks Act and its regulations, and compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing laws.

Kgomotso advises clients on registration, licensing, authorisation and approval requirements in respect of the various financial sector laws. She provides advice and support in matters before the Financial Services Tribunal.

Before joining Bowmans, Kgomotso worked in the financial services industry, where she gained legal and product-specific experience covering the global markets (specifically, foreign exchange, money market, derivatives and fixed income markets), short-term and long-term insurance, and retirement fund sectors.

  • B.Com(Hons) degree in Econometrics from the University of Johannesburg
  • LLB degree from the University of South Africa.
