Overview

Jutami Augustyn is a partner in the Corporate Department. She focuses primarily on private equity transactions, which includes fund formation, mergers and acquisitions and management arrangements. She acts not only for South African funds and private equity houses, but have also advised on Mauritian and other offshore structures.

Her clients range from funds, general partners, fund managers to new investors/partners and management members. She also specializes in the establishment of black private equity funds.

Jutami’s experience further extends to advising a diverse range of leading corporates (both in the private and public sector) on the various elements of domestic and cross-border transactions, corporate and commercial matters, broad-based black economic empowerment, due diligence investigations and corporate governance issues.

  •  Absa in relation to the formation of the African Rainbow Energy Fund Partnership, a private equity renewable-energy-investment-fund in partnership with African Rainbow Energy and Power;
  • One Thousand and One Voices (Mauritius Limited) and CrossFin Technology Holdings Proprietary Limited in the acquisition of 100% of the shares in Sybrin Limited (Guernsey) and Sybrin Systems Proprietary Limited through a special purpose and 51% black owned vehicle from EOH Mthombo Proprietary Limited, a subsidiary of EOH Holdings Limited ;
  • A consortium of lenders in relation to the establishment of and investment into the Khulasande Restructure GP Partnership, through the (A) Partnership (being one of four Partnerships established within the fund at);
  • Trinitas Private Equity on their acquisition of the Avroy Shlain group and related restructuring matters;
  • Sphere Holdings on their investment into the Endeavor Harvest Fund II;
  • Ninety One on its appointment of Ethos Private Equity as advisor for Ninety One’s Africa Private Equity funds;

  • Phatisa on its successful partial exit of Kanu Equipment Limited raising a further US$ 20 million of expansion capital to accelerate Kanu’s aggressive growth plan.
  • RMB Corvest and Lereko on its acquisition of a minority stake in Andru Mining.
  • Standard Chartered Private Equity and Development Capital Partners in relation to their sale of their majority stake in Kamoso Distribution (based in Botswana) to Investec Asset Management and RMB Ventures.
  • Goldentree Asset Management LP, the majority shareholder in the Peermont Group, with regards to the restructuring and refinancing of the Peermont Group.
  • Ethos on its direct investment into Primedia Holdings.
  • A consortium consisting of Rand Merchant Bank and Nedbank on the acquisition of the Biosciences division of Ascendis Health Limited.
  • Convergence Partners and Synergy Communications on the acquisition from Vodacom of various business units across Africa.
  • Trinitas Private Equity on various of its investments and exists, including advising on the acquisition by a private equity fund and a family office of a limited partner stake of an existing substantial limited partner of the Trinitas Private Equity Partnership and the acquisition by Trinitas of a stake in Powertech Industries battery group.
