Overview

Gordon Rushton is a senior consultant in our Cape Town office Dispute Resolution Department.

He specialises in commercial litigation, arbitration, insurance, construction and municipal law, and has particular expertise in forensic investigations.

He conducted a forensic investigation into the shooting of the Guguletu Seven and subsequently assisted investigators of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.  Gordon was instructed by the City of Cape Town to assist the Heath Commission in its inquiry into irregularities in the public participation process for the proposed renaming of streets in Cape Town. He represented most of the former directors of Leisurenet Limited in the legal proceedings which flowed from the liquidation of the company. He has acted on behalf of the City of Cape in relation to issues arising from the construction of the Cape Town Stadium. He represented the Law Society of South Africa in its application to the Constitutional Court challenging amendments to the Road Accident Fund. Gordon has also litigated in the High Court in London, at the London Court of International Arbitration, and in Italy.
