Elaine specialises in mergers & acquisition and corporate & commercial law.
Elaine has been involved in numerous mergers and acquisitions, corporate and commercial transactions including business and asset transfers, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, private equity, and venture capital transactions as well as general commercial employment advisory work and fintech regulatory advisory work. Elaine has multi-jurisdictional experience and has worked in Switzerland and in the United Kingdom.
Elaine has a keen interest in Pro Bono matters and assisted with establishing the first ever Kenyan national clearinghouse that will work to improve the pro bono culture in Kenya and bridge the access to justice gap.
Experience
- Advising an insurance venture capital investor on its series B investment into a tech company.
- Assisted in the restructuring of the property portfolio of a large investment, retirement and insurance group operating within the East African region.
- Assisted in structuring, providing advice and conducting due diligence in respect of the financing of a large-scale, mixed-use development to be financed by a suite of financial institutions in a cross-border financing arrangement.
- Provision of setting up advice and subsequent support for clients in different sectors including the telecommunications sectors, banking sectors as well as charitable entities looking to set up in Kenya.
- Norfund and Proparco- part of a team that is acting for Norfund and Proparco in the proposed USD 25 million facility to certain Kenyan companies.

- Master of Science in Business, Law and Management with a major in Mergers & Acquisitions, Banking & Finance and Corporate Law from the University of Law, UK.
- LPC from the University of Law, UK.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Law (PGDiL) from the Kenya School of Law.
- Member of the Law Society of Kenya and the Commonwealth Lawyers Association.
