Since the adoption of the original mining code in 2003, the mining sector in Burkina Faso has steadily developed. Because this sector contributes increasingly to the development of the economy of Burkina Faso, a new mining code (Law No. 036-015/CNT dated 26 June 2015) was passed in July 2015 which is now fully enacted, to replace the previous one and to attract foreign investment.
