25 Years of Competition Law
Reflections on 25 years of Competition Enforcement and Beyond
South Africa marks a significant milestone this year with the 25th anniversary of its competition law framework. Introduced in 1999, the Competition Act was a landmark piece of legislation designed to foster a competitive economic environment, curb monopolistic practices, and protect consumer and public interests.
Our partners have spent time reflecting on the milestone events – looking at how the law has been implemented, identifying key learnings from seminal events, and considering what the next chapter of competition enforcement in South Africa will bring. These insights are shared in a series of videos.Â
